Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

About Department

Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry focuses on the design, synthesis, analysis, and development of new drug molecules. It plays a crucial role in the drug discovery pipeline, providing students with strong theoretical knowledge and practical skills in medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, and quality control.

Vision & Mission

Vision:
To be a leading center for pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry research, driving innovation in drug design and quality assurance.

Mission:

  • To provide a strong foundation in organic, medicinal, and analytical chemistry.

  • To train students in modern analytical techniques and synthesis methods.

  • To foster research in drug discovery, structure-activity relationship (SAR), and quality control of pharmaceuticals.

Core Areas of Research

  • Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design

  • Organic Synthesis of Drug Molecules

  • Spectroscopic and Chromatographic Analysis

  • Structure-Activity Relationship (SAR)

  • Computational Chemistry and Molecular Modeling

Lab Facilities

State-of-the-art formulation laboratories.

  • Anatomy & Physiology Lab I: It is established to understand the Human Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology of diseased state with the help of charts and models including human skeleton and other types of apparatus.
  • Pharmacology Lab II: It consists of equipment to investigate the activity of various drug samples, such as Digital Balance, Rota Rod, Electro Convutsiometer, Histamine Chamber and Actophotometer.

Lab Practices

Labs provide analytical support and intellectual input to both in-house and external projects of the Institute. As a result of excellent lab facilities and their proper utilisation under the supervision of faculty members, the Graduates will have an edge for immediate employment.
